Can't find a measuring tape? Print and cut out a Jellyfish tape measure

Personal Measuring

It is always more accurate if someone else measure you.

Ask your assistant to make absolutely certain that:
  • The tape is held firmly against the body to take the measurement but is not tight and does not dig into the flesh.
  • That the tape is held parallel to the ground all the way around the body and does not dip at the back when the measurement is taken.
  • You wear your best fitting, unpadded bra to take your bust measurement.
Now you are ready to commence your personal measuring. Below is a diagram showing where the tape should sit for each measurement. Please record all your measurements.




The measurements on the following charts are body measurements and not the measurements of the finished swimsuit.
  • Use cup size, full bust and underbust measurements only to establish your size for a top.
  • Use hip measurement only to establish your size for a bottom.
  • Use all measurements to establish your size for a one piece or monokini.
  • Because your swimsuit will be made of lycra you have more flexibility with the range of body measurements (lycra has extra ‘play’ because it has stretch).
Important: Select the set of measurements, either up or down, which are closest to your own body measurements.

You will have several (approx. 5) centrimetres leeway up or down with each measurement when comparing your body measurements with the chart.

Note: Measure your torso length only if you are purchasing a one piece or monokini.

To establish your torso length take your tape and place it at the highest point on your shoulder. Often this will be close to the neck. Continue the tape down across the highest point of the bust (not through the cleavage) and then pass the tape through your legs and take the tape right up your back to the initial starting point.

Remember: to retain your recorded measurements and sizes to enter into the appropriate spaces provided on your design page.
